General Description

This report summarizes lignite drilling data gathered in 1975 and 1976 by the Arkansas Geological Commission to determine the lignite resource in the northeast portion of Arkansas. 

It includes:

  • 9 cross sections constructed from drill hole and electric logs
  • Discussion of the lithology and depositional environment of the Wilcox and Claiborne groups
  • A summary of significant lignite deposits on Crowley's Ridge
  • Chemical composition of lignite in the study area
  • Recommendations for use of lignite in the study area and for further investigations
